How do you audit a mailed ballot that has been separated from its envelopes? The only thing you can do is count the actual votes, which is something, but it can't tell you if there were multiple ballots from the same person.

I'm not absolutely sure of this, but supposedly there's a barcode that can link ballots to actual voters.

Yes, but there's no way to know if that voter sent in the ballot--unless they contact that voter and ask him, which would take a very long time with hundreds of thousands of ballots.

This is when you make a list and make it public.

NO way it is connected to the voter. You cannot link personal info to their votes. Or else harassment and bad things happen. If there is a barcode on the ballots it might just tell you the zipcode and maybe date it was mailed or something. But I cannot imagine it links to a persons name and address. I would sue if that was the case lol. I would get jumped in Chicago if my friends or people found out I was a pede.

When you do mail in ballot, you willingly give up your right to an anonymous vote. They know who you are.

Exactly. Invalid votes will be counted.
