You are as misinformed as a Biden voter. Chesty Puller earned all of his awards in a career spanning from WW I to Korea, starting out as a Private at the end of WW I (though he didn't serve in that war). Do some reading and put down the meth pipe, Hunter. And while Audie Murphy was a brave soldier, he was an actor after WW II and Chesty was still leading troops...and served in another war, leading Marines in Korea. Audie Murphy is not greater than Chesty Puller.
There's enough patriotism to share on our 11-11-11 Day of Peace, the Day the Guns fell silent.
Even though today isn't Decorations Day... My neighbor growing up was one of the few who had German shrapnel in him from the trenches in The Great War(WWI), and Japanese shrapnel in him (as a Marine) from the Pacific Islands in WW2.
To all those front-line combat veterans and troops out there whom have stories which you'll never tell your spouse, kids, or any average soul; from him, I pass onto you prayers of solice if you need it.- Quaker Pede
This guy is a former Marine who served in units formerly commanded by Chesty Puller. And Audie Murphy is an actor. And you're a low information Biden voter.
I don’t disagree with any of this. Audie was arguably the greatest soldier in American history. Idc that he was an actor after. Chesty (peace be upon him) was amazing because he put himself through a lot of the shit that grunts go through, and he didn’t have to. But his men respected him endlessly for that and that is why he is regarded as our greatest Marine. We have all had good and bad officers. But the Army has lasting animosity toward Chesty (peace be upon him) because he punked the Army for not having officers like him.
The Army and Marine Corps are different cultures. There is a single moment when you become a Marine that all of us remember vividly. That moment in front of the Iwo Jima memorial when that EGA is put in your hand. 12 long weeks to get there. There is a reason that any Marine who wants to transfer to another branch doesn’t have to go through their basic training, but anyone from another branch must go through Marine Corps boot camp. We are just different, we were the only ones to actually examine and resist putting females in combat infantry units while the others caved immediately.
Not to mention the other branches have been trying to get rid of the Marines for a looooong time.
I served in 1/1 as a grunt in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. Chesty Puller served during a era much different that you or I have experienced. His first two Navy Crosses were earned in Nicaragua as a lieutenant. His third was in WW II as a battalion commander, his fourth as a regimental XO and his fifth was in Korea as a regimental commander. The Marine Corps is far different award-wise than the Army (hint: they don't come easily for anyone, enlisted or officer). He is known as one of the finest leaders the Marine Corps has ever produced, mainly because he always led from the front. I have nothing against Audie Murphy, but Chesty Puller certainly was no paper pusher and faced challenges in Korea alone that merit all the fruit salad on his dress blues. I served with a prior service 82nd Airborne soldier who was a great guy, so I'll assume, for now, that you're as respectable as he is and not the toilet bug I initially thought you were. Thanks for your service and fuck Joe Biden.

They should still refer to today as Armistice Day. Veterans Day just doesn't do it.
