We need a sticky with details on how to cut the cord for those who aren’t technically incined.

I’m a dreaded boomer, and I love my Roku tv and Pluto.

Boomers are more fun. Your sex life picks up after 60.

From what I've read of various dementias, that's partially true, in a way. Loss of inhibition and all that.

I'm only aware of OAN Encore. I don't think Pluto carries the flagship OANN.

Basic firestick does not. Your computer/phone/tablet also have microphone and internet connection no matter how much you disable telemetry.

The worst thing is sports. It's pretty hard to explain to my dad how to go on sketchy websites and click a bunch of links trying to find the game to watch.

Maybe you could find the games he wants to watch and send him the link so he doesn’t have to do anything.

Googling reddit streams usually gets HD sports with minimal effort

Agreed. Unfortunately unless somebody is willing to use pirate websites they will have to support the leftists in some way to get entertainment. If you cut cable/satellite like a good Conservative should, then you are (legally speaking) left with the streaming platforms, which means you're still supporting leftists.

I cut the cord 9 years ago. We've had Netflix for years, and i'd cut that too but my wife wont give it up. Yet. As a Gen X'er I embraced Napster when it first came on the scene in the 1990's and never looked back as far as downloading is concerned. Yes, its stealing, let's not pretend otherwise. But I don't feel one bit of guilt at all seeing as how 99.9% of the musicians and movie stars hate my guts and want me dead, imprisoned, or both. Fuck em.

Get a VPN and find a good torrent site. Or, go to a local thrift store that you trust, buy used physical media, rip the movies or music onto your HD or server, then donate the physical media to a Conservative family member or friend so they can do the same. If nobody wants it then give it back to the trusted thrift store so they can earn a bit more off of it.

As for our Elder Pedes that are not super technically inclined please take the time to show them a way that works for them. Be it used physical media, or providing them with whole ripped or d/l seasons of the shows they love to watch. Help your family to not put a dime into the hands of the music industry and Hollywood.

Oh, and don't worry, i'll get Netflix cancelled. It'll just take a bit more time.

Good thing I got hundreds of video tapes from the 80s to watch and keep me entertained.

Get a Roku for $30ish bucks. Or see if your smart tv already has it. Once Roku is up& Running, go to the "streaming channels" selection on the left. Now search for NewsMax there. Click download channel. Now the app should always be on your Roku homepage. 👍

You can also log into your my roku account online and add channels, and when you go back to your TV they’re there

Can also install PlutoTV and get Newsmax plus other right-wing channels plus TONS of other channels and on-demand shows. All free. No giving ID or email, no making an account, no signing in, nothing.

Thanks. I will try it.

Pluto.TV links

Newsmax on Pluto direct link: https://pluto.tv/live-tv/newsmax-tv

America's Voice where Bannon's Warroom is - https://pluto.tv/live-tv/americas-voice

Start with emailing the links to mom and dad, then go from there. If they have a smart tv, put the pluto.tv app on it.

Exactly

I could use this. I'm not too terrible with tech otherwise but I've ignored the TV-related stuff because my husband is very hard with change in general. He hates Fox now though.
