How much does it cost to run a site like this?

I’m guessing a ton of bandwidth and redundant servers are necessary.

Gawd I hope we’re not housed on some third party server like Amazon where Bezos could cut our link to the servers.

That is insane. Why do places like Instagram or Facebook requires so many employees and so many employees to run?

Instagram started as a simple code, written by dudes eating chicken tendies in mom’s basement, that allowed users to post a pic and some comments.

Now it’s a simple code, maintained by an army of H1B1 visa holders making six figure salaries, that allows users to post a pic and some comments.

Why do these companies need massive facilities and all these guest workers from other countries?
