I'm having the same issue!
I think the outage is upgrades and maintenance, the UI of the YouTube app is completely different.
That seems unlikely, have they ever before had an update take the entirety of the site down fo nearly an hour with no prior warning.
More general site death. Maybe they are changing the algorithm. Or maybe it's the some global conspiracy.
