Each supreme is assigned lower circuit court of appeals to be the Court Justice of. Justice Alito is the one assigned to the 3rd circuit court where all of PA falls under. Basically there's a head judge, and the Court Justice, when the Court Justice is involved he IS the head judge for all intents and purposes. So the injunction was issued under the authority of the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, not his Supreme Court authority. The thing is the Court of Appeals circuits are the last step BEFORE the Supreme Court, and directly disregarding their instructions is generally EXTREMELY unfavorable for any case going to the Supreme Court. Especially if the instructions came from the Court Justice themselves.
