Disney, Star Wars
You can't rebuild brands like that. Once the brand is tainted it would take a concentrated effort of several decades to rebuild the brand and virtually everyone involved in both is the worst kind of person. You are way better off killing off those brands and building new ones that actually represent what was good about Disney and Star Wars before they were corrupted.
All through human history, and written history; there are examples of doing both creating new and rebuilding. Like 9/11 DJT said we should have built back the towers. I said, as much as I hated those ugly boxes; we should not only rebuild in NYC, but also build a set of towers in every major US city.
Some Institutions are easier to rebuild than others. But like Star Wars, an outline of the script to "restore" Star Wars to pre-marxism with epic plotlines to teach, is already done. These things are very doable. But yes, we can also build NEW Institutions, and will need to. So yes, BOTH rebuild, and Build New.
I'm not saying everything is unsalvageable, but particularly with Disney, it's entire existence is a brand. The things that come to mind when you think of it is it's entire value. Disney and Star Wars basically invented the concept of branding and now Disney's brand has become this all-encompassing, soulless, corporate whore that destroys everything beautiful for money and has no principles. It's brand is corporate cynicism and greed. Rebuilding it's image is a lot harder than rebuilding a tower.
My argument is that with something like Disney, your only real option is to Build New.
Concept of branding has been around much older than Disney & Star Wars.

And of course all through history with natural disasters and war, etc; institutions, companies, traditions are reborn or restored.

Same for colleges, cleaning up places like UC Berkeley are going to be a big problem vs Say Caltech.
