Most non American people of color look down on American Blacks. A variety of reasons can be given, from American Black Culture to perceived work ethic etc. The most eye opening example I ever heard was from a Hatian woman in a graduate class I took. Her simple explanation, given without hesitation, was: "They didn't fight back" I remember thinking at the time that it was the most American thing I ever heard. Personally, I will not believe until proven, I will not capitulate to propaganda, and I will die before I am subjugated. Fight back people.
I completely understand why everyone looks down on us american blacks. It's embarrassing how we conduct ourselves. However someone from Haiti is not in the position to talk about fighting back. Especially when their country is a 3rd world shyte hole.
It grinds my gears when people come from corrupt nations, saved by the freedoms of america and talk crap about americans.
Well said. They still point to the Haitian Revolution in 1800 as a point of national resolve or pride or something. The person I spoke of freely admitted that the country was what we would call "a shithole". She described the economic divide as sharp. You either have money and live in a city or you live in the countryside and are dirt poor. The government is totally corrupt and In the city, at least where she lived, the power routinely goes off at 7pm, so in reality they don't have much to brag about in my opinion but obviously my standards have been formed differently from theirs. I find it odd you would say "It's embarrassing how we conduct ourselves" . I don't take responsibility for the actions of my entire race. Normal people don't often make the news or enter the entertainment arena no matter what color they happen to be.
Thank you for your response. Im a black woman so thats what i mean by how "we conduct ourselves". I get prejudged (in fairness) because the norm for black people is to be completely anti social, loud, obnoxious, childish, violent, etc etc. I have tried to shine light on the fact that you are treated how you behave. Has nothing to do with race and everything to do with your behavior.
Ive been called sellout, coon oreo, wanna be white for pointing out facts and logic.
Its embarrassing that black people (not all obviously) embrace and celebrate this degenerate culture. Im tired of being lumped in with shit.
