J. Edgar Hoover is the reason why there's a cap on how long an FBI director can serve. It's a ten year cap and it was never supposed to be a ten year term.

If we had alternative media back in the days of Nixon, Watergate would be a much different story. For instance, think about this, a security guard goes around at night juggling doorknobs to check and see if doors are locked or opened. Wow! That would be a really competent security guard. Does that ever happen at any hotel you stay at? Not only does that security guard find and open door with a piece of tape holding the latch back, but he removes it and then goes back an hour later to jiggle it again. Gee, that's a super duper competent security guard. Oh and that security guard had no idea that it was a DNC operating campaign war room and he immediately called the cops. Do you know the names of the supposed Republican operatives who broke in? Neither do I. Neither did Nixon or anyone in his administration. You're probably wondering how this relates....it relates because for months, the WaPo and NYT put relentless pressure on Nixon to resign. All Woodward and Bernstein articles that kept Watergate alive were based on "Deep Throat". Who was Deep Throat? Mark Felt. Mark Felt was the deputy director of the FBI that was angry at Nixon for not promoting him to be the director of the FBI.

The FBI has been manipulating our elections and our politicians for decades.
