The mods added a link to a secure server one of them had control over (not worried about it being taken down). They had a file on it that said "/r/the_donald has not been compromised by reddit admins" or something similar. I think this was right after this site got announced, but the exact timeline is hazy.
Similar to the phrase "canary in the coal mine" the idea is that everyone keeps the link separate from reddit, and if they suspect the subreddit was compromised by the admins, you look for that file. If the file has changed or isn't up, the sub was compromised.
This was after we saw Reddit cuck-in-command spez edit people's comments (from the DB and NOT from an admin tool with logs showing the edits). The fear was the admins would take over the sub instead of nuking it. Really was a masterstroke of genius by the mods at the time. Even if the mods lost the sub, they could get a message out. We didn't need it, but it was absolutely brilliant.
I am also saying these mods deserve to be publicly recognized by POTUS once all this is over. Have you noticed how we haven't gone down in weeks? Even on election night I didn't see the 504 error once.
