The same people think Socialism works because it is a nice idea in theory, in practice it is destructive and tyrannical, the proof is overwhelming but they ignore it or excuse it.
It's stupid too - anything viewed in its ideal form will work perfectly - I always make the same argument for capitalism, at its core it's a beautiful thing, the idea that anyone can stand on their own two feet and work to better themselves and their livelihood, that your merits and hard work can get you anywhere, that you can be free and choose.
And so what if it doesn't work perfectly? It's worked a damn sight better than anything else people have come up with. People just didn't foresee politicians and corporations colluding and getting in the way of the spirit of the free market as they have today.
