We need to abolish universal suffrage and also the amendment that allowed for senators to be directly elected.

When I say abolish universal suffrage, I do not mean to suggest we disenfranchise anyone based on sex or race. Instead, I propose the following:

  1. Everyone needs to pass a basic civics test. Like something a 14 year old could pass.

  2. Military service or community service. Weigh military service higher in terms of how fast you get citizenship and what perks you get. But for the community service, make it so straightforward and basic. Like 100 hours a year over 2 years.

I guarantee that implementing these two steps would immediately weed out 50% of low-information voters.

This 100%. We can be merciful and take care of you when you have a legitimate need that family, church, and community can't or don't exist... But then you do not get to decide who governs, or it will always be a race to the bottom to see who can pander more.

Yes re: senators. Also, only let net taxpayers vote. That solves some major problems without having to repeal a couple other amendments.

Yeah... not really down with a militaristic , oligarchal, caste system.

The military industrial complex is a big part of the swamp. Better to just abolish professional military and rely on the militia, to secure a free state, like the founding fathers intended

Ummm... how about we just focus on making it so they can’t cheat first???? If we did that we’d be just fine

I'm ok with it being militia service, not military service. Heck, neighborhood watch. The only point is to prove investment in the community and responsibility.

Bad idea. You never ever want a test because those can be manipulated.

Voting should be based on the following:

Men only, 30yo minimum, must have 4 years of military experience, must have biological children and must be a net positive tax contributor.

orthodoxvirginian 2 points ago +3 / -1

Nah, I don't have military service, but I like voting.

My wife is smart and I like her voting.

My cousin is infertile through no fault of his own, and I like him voting.

I agree with the age limit.

I probably agree with the tax requirement..

Right and I'm young and like voting. I don't pay taxes and like voting. It's not about you, it's about doing what's best for society.

Only men voting would lead to a much better outcome than having both men and women voting. The proof is in the history of women voting. It has not been good, period.

People with children vote better than people without. I don't care if he can't help it. This isn't about him, it's about doing what's best for society. People are born with disabilities and his shouldn't allow him to vote.

Men with military service vote better than those without. Again, this isn't about you, it's about doing what's best for society.

Yes that means you, your wife and cousin will lose your right to vote. So would I. And that's a good thing because all the other idiots would lose their right to vote too.

That scenario would definitely not be good for society. It would narrow the franchise too much.

We need to weed it down but not to the point that only a small elite can vote.

For example, neither Caesar nor Augustus had a biological child, at least a legitimate one,, yet they were two of the best citizens let alone leaders of Rome.

Not all the early presidents or founding fathers had children.

Not all the founding fathers had military service.

If all the requirements you list were mandatory, the voting class and ruling class would be tiny. Too tiny

A pathetically large part of the country doesn't know where the government gets money from. It really doesn't matter to those idiots anyway, they don't pay any taxes.

4
Jimmy_Russler 4 points ago +4 / -0

They think the government can just print out money and give it to everyone, no joke

4
2008RonPaul2012 4 points ago +4 / -0

I mean that's correct though. The government literally can and does that all the time. The issue is people think this can be done without negative consequences, which is where they are wrong.

Well obviously they can and do, but not to the extent these idiots expect. What they want is $1,000 printed out and given to each person every month, which will be $300,000,000,000 a month. The currency would quickly become monopoly money, but they don't understand that.

Gibs for votes. It’s how it goes. And when there aren’t enough gibs for votes, then bring in the fraud machine.

Pigpenlordofdirt 5 points ago +5 / -0

There should definitely be tests for this shit

Jimmy_Russler 4 points ago +4 / -0

1 in 4 adults in Philly can't read but still vote

So I get the purpose behind what you're saying, but there is a middle ground. The husband and I have been married 11 years and we only hit net positive last year. Due to me being a stay-at-home mom of four kids, our income was always lower than if we'd both worked; and we got child tax credit. But we are nowhere near welfare rats... the husband works his ass off. Had I worked, we would have been in a different bracket, but we strongly believe in me raising the kids, not daycares/public schools.

You should have to have a certain IQ, contribute a certain amount of tax revenue, and take a moderately difficult civics exam to vote
