When ticket sales drop, you will see a backpeddle.

83
CisSiberianOrchestra 83 points ago +84 / -1

Exactly this. I'm a metalhead, and most of us aren't going to pay high ticket prices only to get checked at the door to make sure we've had our shots, then enter a half-full venue with mandatory social distancing and masks.

I think we might be seeing the return of small shows in dive bars like in the early days of punk and metal.

42
Mad_Hattie 42 points ago +42 / -0

I welcome that.

27
BishopofBlackpool 27 points ago +27 / -0

Those small shows never went away, though I'm not sure what will be left as the small venues got hit the hardest.

5
SpezDispenser 5 points ago +5 / -0

They were being repelled by Antifa shitheads though. Any metal band that they deemed offensive would have their tour sabotaged, by promoter harassment.

2SmoothGQ 16 points ago +16 / -0

This is how I’d do it. I’d kill to see GNR back in a dive bar before the became big. I’d love to own a dive bar one day. I will not under any circumstances get an unproved vaccine. Once it’s in it doesn’t come out.

6
darkhorsereddit3 6 points ago +6 / -0

You’d have to deal with John Taffer screaming in your face

5
2SmoothGQ 5 points ago +5 / -0

Probably! because I don’t know the first thing about owning a bar lol. Maybe I’ll just build one and a stage in my backyard and host big parties

They won't. People will comply.

Our jobs will be next.

We didn't fight the lockdowns and restrictions, look where we are. We can't let this go, we must stop this NOW

Gold-Eyed-Cat 8 points ago +8 / -0

Speak for yourself. I have worn a mask ONE time to go to the hospital with my Mom. (I'd wear one of those pink hat vagina costumes if that's what it took to get in the hospital.) But no one has given me shit anywhere else. I'm in a mandatory mask state.

8
I_LUV_WINNING 8 points ago +9 / -1

WHEN YOU SEE OTHER COMPANIES ABUSING THE PRECEDENT SET BY THIS RULE THEY ARE IMPLEMENTING YOU WILL SEE MASSIVE PROBLEMS!!!

example: Sorry you cant come into this bar without medical records showing you dont have HIV.

Sorry you cna shop here unless you have updated medical records showing you dont have Hepatitis.

Sorry you can go to this event unless you show medical records you dont have the common cold.

It is going to set off a massive lawsuit in every state.

The only people that are going to win with this are the lawyers once again. If Ticketmaster can get away with it, then every other person with any common sense is going to implement this new precedent.

Ticketmaster is an example of a shell company set up to soak up customer anger. Threads breaking down how this form of entity works have been popular from Digg, and through reddit history as new generations learn of the concept.

Entertainment industry labels demand extortionate cuts, surcharges, fees. Venues negotiate their rates. The act tries to squeeze out a pittance in that. All of it is lumped together into one combined price confusing what portion goes where. And every party plays hot potato, "I don't want my name on a price that high, fans will get angry."

Then they came up with bright idea of invent Ticketmaster. Slap that brand label on the price. Fans get angry at skyrocketing prices and shake their pitchforks at the cold empty concrete walls of the Ticketmaster office down the block rather than at the doors of the music label.

Be smart. No one is inside the house at Ticketmaster. Go to the entertainment industry megacorps to voice dissent.

Definitely, they already sell all the tickets to resellers before public sales even begin. I can't remember the last time I purchased from Ticketmaster directly

2
rob0Pede 2 points ago +2 / -0

I learned where to place my anger when i tried to get Tom Petty tickets like 10 years ago. Every ticket sold out within 30 seconds. I did some research and found out that Petty himself demands 10 tickets that he resold on stubhub. I was pissed. Fuck them all.

2
catfoodsoup 2 points ago +2 / -0

I mean, kudos for the smart move on Petty's part, it at least gives him a bit more of a chunk of what the labels normally steal from him too. Artist and fan alike get pretty screwed by the monolithic middlemen.

mcccxxxiv 27 points ago +27 / -0

All that to see a "band" that's really just employees hand-picked by corporate trash, who were handed garbage "music" that means nothing to perform that'll be installed at the top of the charts. Yeah, pass.

6
ObongoForPrison2020 6 points ago +6 / -0

The moment you find out that the politics of most musicians...you wouldn't be very interested in supporting them anyways.

Surprisingly, the absolute most unbearable people are all in the local music scene. You have to present as so woke to get a foothold there.

2
mcccxxxiv 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is why the vast majority of my music is by people the mainstream has never heard of, or very old, or things that they actively REEEEE about--I've found a lot of great shit with that last trick. Movies, too. Try it sometime : )

You think it's going to stop at ticketmaster?

It's not.

This is without doubt a strength test!

They take a non-essential service and force it to make this requirement in order to measure the population's willingness to comply. If enough of us do it for the sake of a concert or a ballgame, then we'll be even more likely to do it for a driver's license or grocery shopping.

Don't fall for it! Let Ticketmaster go bankrupt! Show the world!

8
Rainman 8 points ago +8 / -0

Always check ANY professional entertainment / entertainers to ensure they're not anti American, and support individual liberties before giving them a dime of your money

8
aaafirefly123 8 points ago +8 / -0

Let it be known: I am NOT anti-vax.

Vaccinations are a good thing and have allowed us to prevent many diseases that had plagued us in past for centuries.

That being said, I am vehemently AGAINST forced vaccination.

I do not trust the government at all in this regard,

And to an extent I believe that this COULD BE the mark of the beast, and if it is, then I want no part in it.

6
powershellder 6 points ago +6 / -0

You don’t have to be “antivaxx” to recognize some severe issues with vaccine safety.

There is a massive propaganda campaign around all vaccines and there are very questionable practices such as:

-no true placebos: vaccines are tested against other vaccines or vaccine ingredients during trials, not with a true placebo like saline solution. This downplays how many adverse reactions there truly are because both groups have reactions and therefore it is “no more dangerous than the placebo”. Remember, someone just barely died from the placebo (meningitis vaccine) in the recent covid trial.

-manufacturers are exempt from lawsuits for faulty products. Unlike every other pharma product, you can’t sue if vaccines harm you.

-in exchange for exemption, Congress was supposed to perform safety studies. They have not been conducted for over 30 years.

1
resemblelife 1 point ago +1 / -0

Exactly. Vaccines are HIGHLY suspect until 1) no more blanket immunity for the vaccine industry 2) discussions on vaccine safety are not only no longer censored but taken seriously

Grilledpepe 6 points ago +6 / -0

Conservatives have cancelled most musicians already anyway for being commies

1
Pederrr 1 point ago +1 / -0

They've also let the commies take over everything because, for some reason, they seem to think it's best to wait for actual live combat than to prevent the escalation to that point.

The time to start fighting them is still here. If we don't fight now, you'll be burying loved ones.

Lol worked as a non union stagehand. Does ticketmaster realize a bunch of 1099s who dont have the vaccine will be building all the stages and hanging out backstage?

7
800080 7 points ago +7 / -0

They probably don't care.

  1. They may be a test case for this crap of "your digital papers please, comrade"

  2. For their use, by requiring this be an app on your smartphone, who knows what other permissions and data they will slurp up, such as your contacts, your calendar ["we just want to put the concert date/time into it"] and your location information.

4
Pederrr 4 points ago +4 / -0

Lol you think it won't be required for our jobs too?

Dude, we're not pushing back and they're already getting people used to this as normal. YOUR JOBS WILL REQUIRE IT AS WELL

3
MakeAmericaLegendary 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not the Mark, but certainly paving its way.

3
PamelaCincinnatus 3 points ago +3 / -0

The literal mark might not be a physical thing, but something spiritual. So this is about understanding how what we choose in this material life affects our souls. The spirit of this garbage is very mark-of-the-beast-y, if you ask me. I say NO.

2
MakeAmericaLegendary 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'd agree with you. The Mark is tied to worship of the Beast.

3
kd5ywa 3 points ago +10 / -7

It's not right to mis-label something as dire as "Mark of the Beast". When you get it, you won't have any doubt what it is. You will have to worship the literal, dyed in the wool AntiChrist to get it. This current crap is a freedom issue. Not a worship of the Prince of the Morning Star issue.

4
Pederrr 4 points ago +5 / -1

Just like fascism, communism, and complete authoritarianism... it'll TOTALLY SHOW UP AT ONCE WITH A MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT. It will DEFINITELY TOTALLY NOT BE A SLOW STEADY TREND INTO IT.

Sitting back and waiting isn't going to stop this shit. It's time to fight, or just accept death. Only 2 options.

0
kd5ywa 0 points ago +1 / -1

Sorry, saying something is the literal Mark of the Beast doesn't cut it if it's not. Sure, fight it for it's tyranny. It's anti-freedom to its core to require anything of this sort. But this particular thing isn't the worship of the AntiChrist, therefore it's not the Mark of the Beast talked about in the bible. It's like railing about credit card chips and calling them the Mark of the Beast.

1
sun_wolf 1 point ago +3 / -2

They have a microchip attached to the vaccine. The microchip is implanted in your body. You need to swipe the chip in your hand to enter any public place, work, or buy and sell. How much more clear does it have to be?

0
kd5ywa 0 points ago +1 / -1

The Mark of the Beast is to signify your worship of the Anti-Christ. It can be, and will be, something specific, and there's a lot of things currently in society that we think could be used for it. But getting a microchip in your hand in and of itself isn't "A Mark of the Beast". There's not going to be any obfuscation on just what the Mark is. You will be required to worship someone to get it. Mislabeling something as the literal "Mark of the Beast" isn't truthful.

0
sun_wolf 0 points ago +1 / -1

Accepting the mark is the act of worship itself. It symbolizes compliance to the agenda. Without the mark, you cannot buy or sell. How much more obvious does it have to be? But take the microchip if that’s your thing. Pull up your mask. Muzzle your face.

1
kd5ywa 1 point ago +1 / -0

Your opinion doesn't dilute the Truth in the Word of God.

3
GrizWallerOGV 3 points ago +3 / -0

What they wanted is to create a system that we couldn't escape from and what they're actually creating is a parallel sub-economy run by and designed for COVID hysterics. If we stand strong and force them into the corner, it will be them who are only be able to go to a few stores, eat at a few restaurants, see a few entertainers, etc. They will limit their own lives to businesses and cities that are rabidly pro mask pro hysteria while we go on with life.

2

Just like our monthly visits to movie theaters or sitting down to eat in a Chinese restaurant, it's now a relic of a bygone era.

If they want to force you to get COVID tests prior to going to concerts, so be it. Don't go to concerts, there are many other forms of entertainment to replace them that aren't as overpriced.

4
sun_wolf 4 points ago +4 / -0

How long does this excuse work?

So we’re banned from concerts. Solution: just don’t go to concerts.

Then we’re banned from theaters. Solution: just don’t go to theaters.

Then we’re banned from gyms. Solution: exercise at home.

Then we’re banned from restaurants. Solution: cook your own meals.

Then we’re banned from grocery stores. Solution: farm your own food? Slaughter your own meat?

Then we’re banned from work. Solution: ???

1
PamelaCincinnatus 1 point ago +1 / -0

And eventually they will ban you from NOT spending money at all these venues if they get their way. They want absolute, atomic control over every single person. They want the consummation of every totalitarianism that ever dreamed to be. Why? Because THEY WANT TO BE GOD.

1
UnwaveringDefiance 1 point ago +1 / -0

Neither a vaccine nor a microchip will be the mark of the beast. That’s not how apocalyptic symbolism work. Having the mark on your forehead or right hand signify your thoughts and your actions.

Now the vaccines and chips will definitely help reinforce the actual mark through denial of service and location tracking, absolutely.

virtual concerts are going to completely displace real-life concerts. Artists like Rezz already have a few good VR sets. All the joy of a cool stage and unique tracks without a smelly annoying crowd.

13
Chick-fill-eh 13 points ago +13 / -0

That sounds awful.

There's a reason Trump rallies work when youtube videos don't - people LOVE the energy of the crowd, even if it smells like BO because they banned cigarettes.

1
ohamitired 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah, I live in the pit area. Ya can't pit in vr.

3
undecidedmask 3 points ago +3 / -0

I have no clue if I would like a virtual concert. Probably wait until VR is really good and cheap before doing it.

3
readyIgnite 3 points ago +4 / -1

Price point may now be reasonable for VR.

For example, if you grab a used PS VR headset apparently open source work is done to load drivers up from your PC and use it as a cheap VR headset for Steam. Provides low enough bar for access to get a sense of what you can do with it without going to the boundary of highest performance.

I learn toward the PS VR option for cheap VR for data privacy considerations, Oculus products are terminally infected by Facebook data rape. There is a lot of used Oculus supply out there for those who made the recent hop to Valve Index, thus may be cheap options, but the data collection is unnecessary risk that may be managed. The unintended use of jacking the PS VR into a PC means any data collection optimization on the platform has high probability of being disrupted by unofficial drivers. Less data piped upstream to data collection centers.
