It's obvious she got the Wizarding MSM betraying the wizarding community from real life history. She does understand some bits of history just from that. Unfortunately her reader base was millennials. The first batch of kids to embrace cancel culture and bullying public figures online into accepting extreme ideologies. Pair this with the author's desire to stay "hip and relevant" and you get the disaster you see today.
