Public discourse generally speaking is governed by the lowest common denominator in the entity that makes up the ‘Public’.

Things follow relatively simple rules. Individuals on their own perfectly intelligent and perhaps reasonable. But stick enough individuals together and the collective IQ in the room plummets. Even carry’s over to online as well.

Stick enough people in a heavily moderated online chat room. Or just any forum or chat room in general. The trend repeats.
