Well, to be fair, from what I heard, they leaked it to the WSJ and were told they'd break the story, but then the WSJ chickened out. So they went to the NY Post. WSJ would've had way greater magnitude because they're more on the "serious media" side. They did some editorials about the story afterwards, though. Anyway, might be that the delay was due to that change of plans. Conspiracy theory: maybe some senior executive at the WSJ sabotaged the effort and bought as much time as possible.
