Unless you've done audio work... you need the context here. Everyone is hearing everyone else over their headset... so when someone screams THAT loudly it's like they're yelling EVEN LOUDER point blank into your ears.
For someone running the audio (like Lydia) there's a professional thing where you want to keep the levels for everyone else so they can clearly hear everyone but it's not overbearingly loud so when someone does what Alex does and you don't catch it quickly enough, it's actually a bit of a professional embarrassment because it means you didn't do your job right.
