Hey brotha I agree 100% with everything except your qoute of Jesus there.
That qoute has you thinking a bit off.
For we know that Jesus did not go to Paradise when he died. He was not talking about that day "today" he would be with him in paradise but "Amen I say Unto you Today ( , ) you will be will me in paradise. "
Comma in the worng place makes a huge differnce.
Plus to top this off there is vast amounts of evidence of old testament and new testament scriptures to prove that when we die we "sleep" and wait for the ressurection day.
There is no point of ressurection if we are already in heaven.
And for all the old testament prophets, kings, and wise men all state they "sleep" with their fathers. Solomon states "the dead know nothing nor curse or bless God".
They never said "we go unto the Father in heaven".
This thought process of thinking we have an immortal ghostly soul is from Greek pagan orign.
What makes a soul is what God declares right in the beginning of Genesis.
"Man was formed from the dust of the earth and God breathed the breath of Life into his nostrils CREATING A LIVING SOUL. "
What makes a soul is - The Earth + the breath of Life = living soul.
Like a Toy + batteries = working toy.
Without the breath of life we are dead as dead can be.
Ohh and when Jesus Christ raised the dead he said "they were sleeping". And confirmed he meant dead for those being confused.
God is not the author of confusion. Relgious doctrines however have corrupted this very simple and observable fact of our reality.
If you have and understand a Greek NT, you'll see the comma is in the right place.
Luke 16:19-31 says that the poor man was in Abraham's bosom, which is Paradise and the rich man was in Hades.
OT was correct in that we physically sleep but spiritually we still exist.
I think there's a misunderstanding with regards to Paradice being the same as Heaven. It is not. Paradise was where Man was before being sent out and where the righteous will go after death. Heaven is the realm of God where only Holiness exists so we may not go there for only One is Truly Holy. Hades is the place where those who've died in their sins will go. All this until the final judgment.
Seems like you're either following some recent innovations or just haven't read the Fathers of the early Church. Keep studying and asking for guidance. You'll get there. Until then, peace brother.
