I’m a white person from a humble background. Mom’s a nurse, Dad always worked for himself doing specialized construction jobs. But privileged to have loving hardworking parents who are still together. I did very well at uni, physics and maths, now making good money in IT/Finance.
Most of the people I studied and work with are from privileged backgrounds, both parents studied, often wealthy, never poor. They are often “liberal” minded. But they never grew up playing basketball in the neighborhood, with all sorts of kids from all backgrounds, never got into fights, mainly worrying about their piano lessons. The 10% or so that do come from a humbler background like me tend to be more street smart, think on their feet, have a healthy distrust of government bureaucracy, bullshit.
It’s always the fucking privileged that grew up in 95% white neighborhoods that are the most “woke” and therefore disgustingly racist. I think their wokeness is actually more about themselves coming to terms with their own privilege and racism, as opposed to actual understanding and caring for all people of all backgrounds.
