Actually high tech can be the solution. Crypto-based technology and forcing full real-time transparency for everyone to see.

Imagine you don't have to watch ANY media to follow the results, which will go online in real-time. Imagine you could look up your result anonymously.

AND the source code is open. While not everybody can just edit it, everybody can look into it and propose changes/improvements. It would take only ONE person to find something fishy, make a copy of the source code, report it to the oh-so trustworthy officials and the whole scheme blows up, and whoever inserted it as well - meaning cheating is impossible to implement.

And you could make test-runs and simulations.

Hell, you could just put in extra mechanisms to ensure the software is harder and harder to hack (possibly impossible). And ~6-12 months before the election, no changes can be made except small exceptions if necessary, which will be made very visible to everyone.

Just compare it with what it is now: Some shady company with deep ties to Kleptocrats with concealed source code.

The fact that the code is closed source for a process that requires full transparency really bothers the shit out of me.
