Catholics are the most clear in this issue and have a long history in this regard. The reality, lot of Catholics don't even go to church, so don't look at just the title "Catholic" to tell the whole story. Look at the Catholics who attend mass every week. Mostly really good people.
The whole priest thing hurts good Catholics deeply. Anytime our leaders screw up it is bad. We always have to remember that they can be screwed up humans just like any group of people. There's been a lot of shit over 2000 years sometimes. There's been a lot of good too. They will have to answer to God and there's been a lot of people working on this stuff the past decade. Most priests are good people.
This. I tried to reason with some liberal Christians and that's the answer I got, more or less. "Trump has done so many bad things" and "lacks moral character". These people are so brainwashed! Since when does the president's shortcomings matter more than the killing of babies and other matters!? They have no idea that our choices weren't Trump v. Biden but republic v. Communism or good v. Evil.
500 children separated at border
Black men being killed by cops
Trump acting like dictator
It's all feelings based. Trump makes them feel bad. Yuck.
It comes down to there are, literally, 100s of issues and we get two, maybe three, choices to represent us on all those issues. The duopoly is an enemy to freedom.
I don't hate abortion. I think it's often necessary and I'm right-wing. I'm a woman, I was pregnant and the fetus had countless abnormalities and was probably going to die. Being pregnant sucks. We wanted the baby, but if it's just going to suffer why put it and the rest of my family through all that.
Sorry for your struggles. That sounded hard. I must say though, "probably going to die" is much more preferable for another human being though than "you are certain to die", which is abortion.
I should clarify, the baby probably would have died before giving birth, but according to doctors it would not survive post-birth.During the screening test it was missing the nose bone, had underdeveloped chin, limbs abnormal and too short, underdeveloped brain, genetic mutations, abnormal proteins and other markers. basically every single thing that they look for in an unhealthy pregnancy was there. If you see one or two of those things, you would wait for more tests to see and you might get a healthy pregnancy in the end. This was a case where there was almost no chance that he would have lived even if he survived birth. I didn't want to stay pregnant just to wait for him to die.
Typically the answer you'll hear is "There's lots of life issues. We can't turn our back on everything else when they don't really want to change anything. We need to change hearts instead."
I was able to walk my wife away from this logic several years ago (she voted 3rd party this time for president because she has TDS). Even with her though the misguided appeal of Democrat party, usually based on misguided history (in her case unions) is strong.
I'm Catholic, so the argument has even more ammo thankfully, as even bishop's in US still describe it as the pre-eminent issue that causes the most harm to human life and human dignity.
But it is hard. The reality is, lots of people (even though they won't say it or even believe they're doing it) place poltical offiliation above human life and above Christian ethic of "Though shalt not kill."
Yes, crickets... or it a woman's choice. Even from Catholics
I hate abortion, it's evil and disgusting - straight up murder of innocents ....
I thought Catholics would be horrified-- but they fell way short with the whole predator priests.... so I just don't understand them
(I was raised Catholic....)
God bless you. You are exactly why I can never support a pro-abortion politician. Your life matters.

Thank you for being willing to listen. I know that this is such a contentious topic on these sorts of forums.
If you listen carefully, you'll hear Satan telling them lies after you ask the question.
