Unfortunately yes. I’d say the average pede is twice as aware of reality, but even for us there’s a spectrum (of capability not autism as autism is always a superpower on the Internet) of competence.
It’s worth baring in mind that the collectivist tradition they’re carrying the torch for has a contiguous history of more that one hundred years and has been the ruling ideology in bare minimum two of the six state superpowers in the last 120 years (if you include France which is where it all started, which I normally would, then it’s three and if you count the horribly managed social welfare system in the UK, which I don’t, it’s four).
The CCCP and the CCP invest(ed) an absolutely mind boggling amount of money into manipulation techniques that the US, even the intelligence agencies, have patterned off since. That’s one of the reasons that it’s such a dangerous way to run a country. It’s doomed to fail, statistically involving mass internment and starvation, but along the way the centralized control and distribution of resources can create “products” that are irresistible to ideologies like ours that want to find the best way to accomplish a goal. The issue is that the product then serves as an in for collectivism once again except this time domestically (see: mass surveillance, candid zero consent drug trials, arbitrary intervention in supply chains, censorship, secret police, FISA Courts, and more).
