Okay, so if an atheist is in a foxhole and gets scared and decides to start believing in god, which one should he choose?

There are over 300 major religions in the world, most of which say the others are wrong.

Which one is the "right" one, hmmmm?

Yes, but other religions say that Christian stuff is all fake, and they have their own holy books that say that their God is the correct one. Those holy books can be read, cited and believed just as much as the Christian ones can be read, cited and believed.

There is no independent objective evidence that any one is more correct or supported than any other one.

So which one is right? The religion somebody happened to be born into? That seems pretty random and unlikely, doesn't it?
