Depends on how it is looked at.

No longterm economic opportunities.

Jet Planes.

Nuclear Power.

An auto company called Jeep.

There is someone today who owns a company making radars, their house is powered with electricity created by nuclear, they fly on planes and drive a Jeep.

Eisenhower figured out transportation was important in WW2, and a place like Germany already had huge road systems, so Eisenhower would later build the roads. They still exist, and allow great economic opportunities, not just for moving products but also with roadside attractions and their gift shops and diners.

WW2, with the technological leaps made and also by capturing a few people, put the USA into space. When people watch TV, talk on the phone today, all goes back to rocket and communications development in WW2.

Training all those pilots and mechanics in WW2, it created the people to expand air travel in the USA. Went from the DC-3, before it, to the 707.

Did have a read of the story in the link. Always good to learn things.
