You don't need to worry about the violent ones until they've massed for several hours and have psychologically entered their trance state.
Coming from someone who served in the Military, I think its a bit much to go to the surplus store and buy this military shit like you need it to rally in the streets. Just wear a normal helmet. When I see people with LBV's and ACU back packs I just cringe.
