It was actually required reading in high school for me, back in the Dubya years when the leftist education system was pushing the "republicans are Nazis" narrative. I mean, Dubya and his GOPe neocon crew was pretty damn swampy but I'd be lying if I said reading 1984 didn't help plant the seed of distrust of the government that ultimately led me to the Tea Party and now MAGA movement.
