Working on a paper about federalism and the amount of accuracy that a bunch of Patriots during the Constitutional Convention had in their estimation of what would happen if the Constitution were implemented was stunning. Massive bureaucracy where the unelected and rich would rule over the average man while stripping away their rights. Its all there and its 100% right. Anti-federalism needs a return.

By first taking power back from the Federal government. I am not a pot smoker and I find it disgusting. Its a state issue and always should have been. So many issues like Abortion, gay marriage, and more. All should have been state issues.

Federalism in the late 20th and early 21st century now means downsizing the Federal govt reach and returning power to the states.

Sooooo. no.

Does it tho? Our federal agency count at the signing of the Constitution was 3. Right now its 454. Does that sound like anyone is downsizing anything? When the first Federal Register (a list of all federal employees) was made in 1816 we have approximately 4,000 federal employees. Right now we have 7.8 million federal employees. Downsizing my ass.

It stopped just after Reagan's first term. We need to restart the devolution revolution again.

What do you expect from the DNC and A former head of the CIA (Bush)?

Why do you think they're fighting President Trump so hard?

Trust me dude I'm on your side on the last 2. Reagan was great in a few ways but all you have to do is refer to the total number of Federal Employees during his term to see that he did little to actually minimize the size of the Federal Government. From about approximately 1950 to mid 1990 the total number of Federal Employees stagnated between 2.75 and 3 million. After Clinton got in office that number increased. Right now we have 7.8 million federal workers. To show you how insane this was, during the early 1800s we have about 4000 federal workers. Our nation is out of control with the federal government.

The concerns of the Anti-federalists lied not in having a Republic so much as what they saw as major loopholes in the Constitution. An unaccountable judiciary, an executive with too much power, and a Congress who can be influenced unduly. To quote Brutus #4, "“The small number which is to compose this legislature, will not only expose it to the danger of that kind of corruption, and undue influence, which will arise from the gift of places of honour and emolument, or the more direct one of bribery, but it will also subject it to another kind of influence no less fatal to the liberties of the people, though it be not so flagrantly repugnant to the principles of rectitude. It is not to be expected that a legislature will be found in any country that will not have some of its members, who will pursue their private ends, and for which they will sacrifice the public good.”

Much of what they spoke has come to fruition. Our justices rule not from an originalist point (except a few) but from their 'feelings' through their "living document" doctrine. Our executive has more power than ever intended through agencies that rule over us unaccountable, and our Congress is infected with ideologues and sell outs who care little for the people.

I am not calling for removal of the Constitution but we need some kind of political reset and implementation of protections that were missed that allow this shit to continue.
