Eh, I grew up in California. If anything, I'd say that Gen X kinda fell in love with the presented IDEA of the Soviet Union. Never actually bothering to look in to what went on in the Soviet Union or the horrible things the governments in the East Bloc did. Nope. They passed on this, "it would be a nice idea" mindset to my generation (millennials) through the Public School curriculum, at least where I lived.
