I told her my background which relates back to politics (I served under Obama). I asked her for her opinion on the Arab Spring and Obama's speech. She said, "I don't think you want me to answer." And I responded, "Oh, now I really want to hear it."
She said that it is known as common knowledge that the US funds and arms their supposed enemies. And I said, "Yes, they were running arms to the Syrian rebels that turned into ISIS. It was one of the many reasons I voted for Trump in 2016. The military industrial complex wants us in perpetual war to benefit themselves at the expense of American lives."
She said, "Then you understand everyone hates Obama and Bush because of it. The media lies when the world says they hate Trump. They love him and they love the American people for finally coming to their senses."

Later in the conversation she mentioned that. We talked about Benghazi and she said it is common knowledge also that we were running arms to the Syrian rebels through the CIA annex.
Nothing would surprise me, at this point, frankly.

A lot of people around the world love Trump because he's gotten out of stupid wars and plays aggressive but fair...he's way more popular than our own media would have people believe
I lived in Egypt for 15 years and she's exactly right. It's common knowledge. I remember it was a year or so after Trump's first victory, my mom traveled to Syria, Jordan, Saudi, and Lebanon and she told me there are lots of people that call Trump "the chosen one".
There's some serious momentum spreading in the Middle East. This has huge knock-on effects for some industries I touch namely natural gas - and it's by product, helium.
I do special event stuff on the side (and have used it to aquire new clients), so the price gouging by some helium distributors has been not because of a 'shortage' but from supply line disruptions. The chain of use is Military, Hospitals (to cool MRI magnets) and then welding/everyone else. Qatar has a massive cryofacility that serves up quantities worth processing (there's a point where without a breakthrough in refining/separation the cost of reclaiming helium from natural gas deposits falls under the market threshold).
Any bullshit in the middle east creates distribution problems in the waterways. At least until some fields in Eastern Africa come online (the highest ratio of helium to natural gas ever in a field spanning 2 countries - and probably more helium than has ever been discovered in history - combined).
But I can TL:DR you to death with this stuff, because of all the research I do for entertainment. Suffice it to say, a more stable and robust trading block in the ME benefits far more than 'just oil'.
I only had a few hours with her tonight but I cannot WAIT to talk to her again. She said church bombings in Egypt are down since we started pulling out of the middle east. MSM dodges this issue, even now. Just after Bengazi, I thought about McCain's antics wanting weapons for Syria's "good rebels," and figured they were running guns out of Bengazi, but heck I'm just an old lady, what would I know? Those involved couldn't say much but if they had it might have blown the whole thing open and tanked McCain.
