I'm just wondering if this would actually be possible. I mean with Biden's campaign funded by Alphabet, big tech, and major media and telecommunications companies, it makes me wonder.
I'm talking just like shutting down the internet or something.

Yes. The President CAN shut down all civilian communication in a National emergency.
Oh hmm...well that's good I guess. I was actually more concerned with it being shut down by the bad guys though.
Facebook could take a lot of the people off the internet that are using the BGP protocol. Other than that to me most shit would just redirect if its using IP. Now they could take down the 6 main DNS servers, but if you know the IP address you can get around that. As long as the other lower tier DNS servers still have all their info then they would still work as long as they had the DNS info
Also, the big companies could shut down their data centers and then any sites hosting them would be down. but that wouldn't affect personal servers not in the cloud.
They are not gonna turn off their data centers though lol. thats wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to much money lost
They would just block all traffic before shutting everything down lol
large chunks of the internet can be disabled if Amazon servers go down.
And network providers are central points of failure. Radio is king.
I used to work for a very very big TV network. The building I worked in had to have the Disney sign removed because it made it a terrorist target. The basement of the building had Live feeds of like 20 networks all running at once. And billions of dollars of backup media (like movies etc). They said something about there being a backup place like this similar in Denver I think maybe? But I dunno. Anyways that’s how one of the big 5 works
Yes, totally feasible. It's laughably simple how easily they could accomplish it if the SNS and major ISPs work together (they're in bed together with their CDN leases and whatnot).
I would assume all big ISPs have some measures to block the access (I know one company auto-detects computers linked to botnets and cuts them off - can imagine it could be easily modified to block all connected devices and even display some message or whitelist some parts of the network).
If you manually turn off individual elements of the infrastructure you'll cut off specific areas. You can also do some magic to make the Internet work but so slow it won't be usable.
I'd say it wouldn't be impossible.
I think what’s more likely is Trump using the emergency alert system or whatever to override everything
