Block chain voting is the way to do it. Each change, or in this case vote is backed up in a running ledger. It's a running record of each change in the system. It would also be distributed, so the ledger doesn't just exist in one place. There is a reason bitcoin hasn't been hacked. When I say not hacked, I mean no one has been able to create bitcoins for themselves without hacking someone's account. There certianly are pitfalls to this, but it could be done securely and easily. And this would/could just be for tabulation for now, and there would be a paper ballot or its equvilant assigned to each voter. Best part the ledger is public information, and super transparent while still remaining secret for the voter. It's 2020 this needs to happen yesterday.
If you think your vote is anonymous as it is, you are fucking bonkers. And if you think your vote is anonymous, the fucking DMV knows who you are registered to.

Yeah fingerprints. Why don't we just put a chip in everyone we can scan so we know they voted?

Yeah, independent.
Plenty of things we can do to have an honest vote. Some Third World countries have better systems than we do.
I love the ones where everyone has a dyed thumb showing they voted.
