On the whole, I would say you are correct. In small doses at a time, it tends to give Pedes a boost. The are reminded they aren't alone in this. Most of those who have never visited will benefit from a few tours. They will be reminded of just how prevalent shills can be. They will see how shills can be countered, or dismissed without engaging. They will see some stuff that shocks them, but when all is said and done, their eyes will be more open than when they started.
Talk about shills all you want. Also dog whistles to Chan culture are fine to let others know you also hang out at the deep end of the pool. But whole posts on TDW about Chan culture might miss the mark.

Even when a site does support the function, with enough shills, they continue bumping and the function ceases to be of value. The warning to others, so that they can quickly ignore, does not cease to function. On TDWIN - there is no sage, but Pedes can point out concerns or shills, which serves a similar purpose.

If normal people don't get it when they are shown TD, then the people on TD aren't "normies". There was less than 30K Pedes on the old site when I joined, and it hit close to 800K subscribers. Those 800K, plus millions of lurkers were all "normal people" before hand. The same is true with other things, such as 4Chan. New ideas mixed with obvious truth are how memes capture people's attention. If there's nothing new about them, they seldom gain traction. Information doesn't just work in one way when it is received. People that underestimate their audience often have their message dismissed because the target feels insulted.
