You desparately want a "middle ground" where you oppose the 'radical' Left (it's all radical, there is no moderate Left), but you also stand apart from what you've heard called the 'radical right'. You want to be that moderate, reasonable, temperate, even keeled guy that said "well I can see where both sides get some things wrong, though I think the radical Left is a little more wrong, but if calm voices can take charge we can work things out together and come to some reasonable solutions like civilized people". Sorry, that middle ground ceased to exist and you just haven't taken the blinders off to see it yet. We're in a War now. For the time being, it's a mostly cold war, but it is a war.
