I did some research last night regarding this. Dominion has a patent they call "Audit Mark". When a ballot is scanned the image of the ballot "can" be saved. Both the original ballot and the image "can" get marked with how the machine interpreted the results. I say "can" because this is apparently a feature that can be turned off.

Can we not obtain voting machine hardware and software logs? I’m unfamiliar with these regulations governing our machines and I’m not sure they even exist.
Pharmaceutical regulations mandate all critical instruments have to be 21CFR (Part 210?) compliant meaning every keystroke is logged and every ounce of data is logged on an audit trail. Any edits to protocols or recipes or data revisions are also logged with username/passwords which also show up on the audit report....
I can’t imagine we treat making benign generic pills such as ibuprofen or benign generic <USP> excipients such as dextrose/sucrose/NaCl with less regulation that vote counting machines...

I did some research last night regarding this. Dominion has a patent they call "Audit Mark". When a ballot is scanned the image of the ballot "can" be saved. Both the original ballot and the image "can" get marked with how the machine interpreted the results. After the votes get transmitted from the precinct to the central database server they have software that can audit and run reports off the database data, but according to Benny Smith, there is no auditing on the database itself. Someone with direct access to the database can perform "fraction magic" and update or overwrite the database undetected. Benny Smith is an election commissioner and data analyst, he was in that video with Dr. Shiva, he was also in a documentary at BlackBoxVoting.com called "Fraction Magic".
There are no regulations like HIPAA, GLBA, PCI in elections like there are in the financial and health industries. They have to follow the rules governed by the state and they don't have a federal agency like NCUA, FDIC, FDA overlooking them.
