It honestly surprised me that CTH was hosted on Wordpress.com servers. I never use them as they are always overpriced compared other company's hosting plans.

I imagine it was probably one of those scenarios where they just took the easy/straightforward route in the beginning to get it running and left it that way for a decade while working on content. Never really reconsidered their infrastructure.

Most people don't think about redundancy and the benefits of a private server until shit hits the fan.
