To be fair he's old enough where the chance of covid killing him is high without any medical conditions, but even hospitalisation can be bad enough to make you morbid enough to not be able to be president. Surgical masks protect OTHERS from YOU, n95s protect BOTH WAYS when used correctly.
Personally, I think CDC guidelines are tainted the same way NICE guidelines are, they've factored in supply and demand and the advice is not accurate to scientific standards but logistical ones. N95 or p99-p100 resp filters are the only sure thing, and even then you have to put it on and take it off and decontaminate correctly.

I can tell you from experience the n95 straps can give you a really shitty pressure headache after sometime, so maybe if we use Occam's razor it's like people sticking their nose out of their masks, he's just being stupid lmao
