Depends on the state. I live in NJ where Sheriffs handle the courts. However I lived in CA for three years and a lot of towns contract out county sheriffs to be their cops.

Sheriffs aren't part of the same organization. They're completely separate things. The Sheriff is an elected official who reports to county commissioners and up, they don't answer to Police chiefs, who report to the Mayor's office.

I can only speak of my personal experiences, but New Mexico sheriffs refuse to enforce our commie governor's red flag laws and I've been to some very large BBQs w sheriffs attending that were way beyond the "accepted number of guests". State troopers and most of the locals on the other hand are pieces of shit that will harass you for being outside w out a mask.

Every police department is different. Cops nationwide are not the same organization, they're self contained in the jurisdiction they oversee. LAPD is in no way connected to SFPD, it's two completely separate organizations who report to their own Police chiefs, who report to their city governments.

I was at the Chicago rally. It was fucking disgusting. They kept everyone in the building until after a very large angry mob was outside, then a half hour after that told us to leave and get out. The police protected a couple of doors then shoved us out the doors closest to the mob. There was a cop that was bleeding from the head but they basically didn't go more than 20 feet from the doors. I had to walk my elderly mother 2 miles to the train station, halfway through all the antifa thugs.

I can’t give you anything more than my opinion. Scenario one and what I want to happen the most is Trump beats the deep state and remains president. He then drains the swamp and uses everything at his disposal to defeat communism. If this does not happen then we are legitimately at war against the tyrants who have successfully stolen the country and are crushing our freedoms and liberties. I would hope trump will give the call to arms. He may not. Someone with enough influence will give the order and the people will stand and fight. I don’t know who that person will be but someone will. It may take a rogue warrior or group to go and get kinetic to start the domino effect. Again I’m sorry I don’t have a definitive answer for you and I wish I knew more. All I can really say is that it’s coming and we’ll know when it’s time.

They try to keep their numbers high which serves two purposes. They are less prone to attack by those they're going after and harder to identify by cops.
They also hit and move. Once they strike, they get out of the area rapidly. That should not always be viewed as a coward move because many small military units use this tactic so the enemy can't zero in on and surround or flank them.

A few years back I saw someone leaving my house by the side door as I was pulling out of my driveway - meaning they entered a house with a car in the driveway (sign that someone is probably home) and were inside my house when I was inside my house. I detained them and called the cops. Six cops showed up. I was surprised, it was damn near impossible to get even one Portland cop to show up for anything, let alone six. After a couple minutes I noticed that four of the cops were around me, and only two around the intruder. It dawned on me - they were there to protect him from me. Punch line: they would not arrest him because I could not prove I had locked my door. I moved out of Portland less than two weeks later.
Fuck the Portland Police. I cheer when I see antifags attacking them. I hope the antifags start harassing them at their homes.
Bullshit. Just entering an inhabited structure, including the garage is at minimum a trespassing charge. If they could show the person was doing it to commit a theft or other felony inside, it's Burglary! It also doesn't require them to actually complete the act of theft for it to be a burglary.

The problem is most people just have no skills or exposure to any form of hand-to-hand combat, and it scares them to even think about it. Watch the one guy swiping at those cretins with his flag. They're also walking away without watching or monitoring threats coming up from behind. This is why I’m not on board with Back the Blue. The police aren’t your friends. I have many close friends in the NYPD, many of whom are working to get out. We lost people close to us in the NYPD on 9/11. This isn’t a cop hating post. I have many police in my family (or my wife’s) who I would do anything for.
Not everyone who is a police officer is a hero - just like not everyone in the military is a hero. I served with a handful of really fucked horrible individuals while I was in. Served with a ton of amazing guys too.
We should support or back the individual, or the department that is truly helping the community. We shouldn’t give blanket support to an organization just because of what they are. These officers pictured were not there to protect us, and it can be argued that they had malicious intent - should we be supporting them solely on the badge they wear? Fuck no.
My local police department is wonderful. Made of great folks who truly care about the community. I’ve had members offer to help me push my wife’s big lifted truck when it broke down. They do a ton of outreach and are extremely understanding people when it comes to interacting with folks. They really do care about the community they serve. Many of them are not going to enforce our governors orders and have made it known.
On the other hand I lived in areas where the police were so invested in protecting their own jobs that they didn’t get involved unless it was “extremely serious”.
I’ve also lived in areas with extremely corrupt police.
