That is correct.

For current Sars 2 to be still around it had to have an advantageous mutation which means it has to become less deadlier over time to spread more readily.

Like all other viruses herd immunity is the best way to stop the spread of the novel corona virus.

Bingo. That's what eventually happens with all virus strains: they mutate into less of a threat than they were initially, and circulate annually as one of the many flus we see.

If the population hadn't been masked and put under house arrest, this virus would have already run its course, or would've been nearly there.

This was all about the election, with an experiment in controlling the population (surprisingly easy) an added bonus.
