3 PEOPLE DIED FROM COVID TODAY THE HORROR THE ABSOLUTE HORROR!

meanwhile thousands die from traffic collisions, heart attacks, murder, suicide, overdose, etc.

5
HockeyMom4Trump 5 points ago +5 / -0

Exactly. Every local news channel in MN pumps those Covid deaths, never mentioning how small they are in comparison to many other deaths in our state.

2
borscht-nazi 2 points ago +2 / -0

>meanwhile thousands die from traffic collisions, heart attacks, murder, suicide, overdose, etc.

FACT-CHECK: False, from official sources: ALL deaths are from COVID-19.

Cocaine is legal in Oregon??

22
honeymussie 22 points ago +22 / -0

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/oregon-first-state-decriminalize-cocaine-heroin-measure-109/

Apparently. I hadn't heard about this until now either. The kicker is they're going to send people to rehab instead of jail and it will be funded by the legal weed tax dollars. So instead of giving law abiding citizens tax cuts they're going to spend it on drug addicts and I bet the law makers all ready have ownership stakes in these new rehab centers that will be seeing tooons of new money. They get their two favorite things, accelerating degeneracy while making themselves rich via the government.

WopNine17plus1 11 points ago +11 / -0

There ya go. You have it mapped out.

8
summerbreeze 8 points ago +8 / -0

It gets better (meaning worse). All of the legal weed tax dollars is supposed to go to the schools. So they took money away from the schools to fund the optional rehab. And Oregon schools rank almost near the bottom nationally.

Edit: Its the Oregon high school graduation rate that is near the bottom . We have a lot of drop outs.

1
HockeyMom4Trump 1 point ago +1 / -0

How is that possible? Aren’t we always told conservative red states in the south are at the bottom and progressive states are always the smartest?

2
Jemmy 2 points ago +2 / -0

Decriminalized != legal

0
honeymussie 0 points ago +1 / -1

That's how the legalization of marijuana started. First states decriminalized it. Personally I didn't care about that, I'm fine with having that drug either decriminalized or completely legal. However no other hard drug was presented to the public for "decriminalization" up until now, most people would not be ok with extending the same lax attitude to things like meth or heroin. It feels like a bait and switch now that "weed is ok". I think this is terrible because it's paving the way for legalization. Those aren't harmless drugs where people's lives are ruined bc of a jail sentence, the drugs themselves are what ruin you and I don't see giving people a slap on the wrist and optional rehab working out.

1
2016TrumpMAGA 1 point ago +1 / -0

What these nimrods don't get is that rehab doesn't even have a chance of working unless the addict really wants to quit, and even then most backslide.

So they're going to spend shitloads of my money sending the same assholes through rehab over and over and over and ...

1
Jemmy 1 point ago +2 / -1

No, decriminalization isn't legalization.

5
MoldyLocksNesMonste 5 points ago +5 / -0

It's the first step

2
Jemmy 2 points ago +3 / -1

As a libertarian, I have no issues with drug legalization. If you rob, cheat, steal, harm others, etc to support your habit, prosecute them for that.

But it's not the governments job to tell you what you can and can't put into your body.

To clarify, I say this as somebody that doesn't even drink.

3
MoldyLocksNesMonste 3 points ago +5 / -2

In theory your point of view works. As much as in theory communism works.

But in real life, libertarianism is just as dumb as communism.

-1
Jemmy -1 points ago +1 / -2

Nah that's a real big false equivalency, and obviously I disagree with your statement here.

There's so much more at stake here though that I don't really care to get into minor & petty philosophical differences right now.

Up until this election, I had never voted for a Republican for president (unless you count Ron Paul).

0
1ValhallaJack 0 points ago +1 / -1

You should go back to voting libtard. I had a similar issue when we were made to wear a seatbelt. It's my life hurting nobody therefore I didn't need the nanny state telling me to wear it or pay a fine. However, your theory is flawed- drugs lead to degeneracy, loss of work, addiction, kids pick up adults habits etc. This is commie playbook 101. LOOK IT UP

1
Jemmy 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lol, I've never voted for a Democrat either.

Most of the problems around drug stem from the black market and prohibition.

That's not to say that they don't cause problems themselves, but people who want to do them will find a way.

Alcohol leads to all of the same things you mentioned (because it is also a drug), do you believe alcohol prohibition works?

2
summerbreeze 2 points ago +2 / -0

I would hope you have a problem with minors having hard drugs. This measure includes the decriminalization of hard drugs for minors. Any minor caught with hard drugs can pay an optional $100 fine or have the fine dismissed if they might be interested in rehab. This measure does not mandate rehab. So a minor can have hard drugs and basically get a slap on the wrist, no court record, nothing; their parents don't even have to know.

1
Jemmy 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes I do. I don't take it to that extreme. Minors don't have the ability to consent and drugs can be far more harmful to a developing brain.

Wasn't saying I necessarily support the legislation there, although I do prefer rehabilitation over prison for drug offenders with no other offenses. I don't know where you're getting the idea that the parents wouldn't be informed though. Legally they have to I believe for any juvenile cases.

1
summerbreeze 1 point ago +1 / -0

It will not be treated like a juvenile case. It is literally like a parking ticket, but its for drugs.

3
Ih8leftists 3 points ago +3 / -0

Since there wasn't a link provided, I went off the tweet that was provided which clearly states that it was legalized.

2
Jemmy 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah I get that, was just trying to help clarify for ya!

I don't have any problem with drug legalization and decriminalizing(legalizing would be LONG FUCKING TERM, current generation fucked up any chance of me wanting it in our immediate lifetime, with these insane riots and retarded policies on public health and shit) but i don't buy for one fucking second the people legalizing it right this second are doing it for my(or Portland's) own good .

Sure they may cite all sorts of studies of alternative healing methods (that might actually work better than outright jail) , but they aren't doing SHIT to actually replicate any of those nations because it doesn't ACTUALLY have anything to do with rehabilitating. Just making more money and fueling the insanity anyway they can.

You shouldn't see this dem-run government as anything more than a pimp trying to lower the age of consent for your neighborhood.

HoodooOperator 4 points ago +4 / -0

I live here... and your title is correct.

4
summerbreeze 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yes, hard drugs are now legal in Oregon for everyone, minors included. This was passed by voters as Measure 110 if you want to research to know more.

Some clownworld trivia, Oregon-style:

$100 optional fine if a minor is in possession of hard drugs like cocaine, heroin, meth

$115 fine if minor is in possession of tobacco products. (class D violation)

$1250 fine/and or 30 days in jail if anyone violates the new mask mandate and no thanksgiving orders starting November 18. (class C misdemeanor)

Lived n Portland for 6 years but left 8 years ago b4 it got this bad. But it was a lib dumpster fire back then. Legit crazy people everywhere. Couldnt get groceries without seein a nut. I can only imagine what it looks like today. * shame cause it's a beautiful part of the country, but n Portland sadly liberal policies sent the middle class packing. People there were either rich or broke. Like San Francisco * again, i can only imagine what its like today

I don't see a problem with drugs being decriminalized. The straw bullshit, obviously, is beyond utterly retarded, same with plastic bags bans and other leftist "environmental" nonsense, as usual.
