They didn't expect the Trump votes to be so high. They prepared to steal but they could only do it in certain key states, so when their Dominion algorithm went to town on the Trump landslide it gave them the "victory" they needed... at the cost of credibility. In order to beat GEOTUS they had to steal so many votes that their numbers no longer fell in the threshold of believable outcomes. It made the cheating too obvious. They blew it.
