Therefor, the only way to rectify failure, is to eliminate the outgroup. Their failed math tells them that it SHOULD work, and they are incapable of blaming themselves, so the longer the system continues to fail, the more they become convinced that taking over more and more of the outgroup is the proper solution.
Take gun control for example. Chicago implements strict gun controls, but still has a violence problem. So they blame the surrounding neighborhoods for not having gun control. If they got their gun controls implemented state-wide, they would then begin blaming the surrounding states for guns getting into their state.
If they managed to implement their controls nationally, they would blame Mexico and Canada, and demand to force them to adopt the same laws. So on and so forth until they finally have no one else left to blame.
That is why communism is always inherently expansionist. The only communist countries which do not expand, are those that are militarily incapable of doing so, but it's never for lack of trying.
They don't understand that no one will be happy once it is implemented anywhere.
