That's so not the point why this is a big deal. I think everyone assumed Sundance would be able to migrate to a different website. It's the fact that after 10 years, WordPress is deplatforming him despite having broken none of their ToS agreements.

You dont need to do that. Just install your own Wordpress on one of the hosting places and export the data from their current system

WordPress is not the only game in town. Also I don't believe that story to be true. Unless they were using Wordpress.com to host their site.

The way WordPress works is there is the .com version, which is a free hosting service with highly limited functions unless you pay for more. The .org site is what you get if you buy a hosting package with a web hosting provider and manage the install and content generation yourself. You can migrate from the .com to the .org and I do not believe anyone can do anything about you using their open source platform outside of their servers. But we do live in strange times, I suppose.

yeah I have a server I am not using right now that I have been seriously considering setting up as a webserver for patriots to use.
