All the measures - social distancing, shutting down the economy, limiting travel - take a huge toll on the economy and mental health of the country and those measures are not being properly weighed against the actual impact of the epidemic.

You are free to take the disease as seriously as you want. None of us are wanting to force you to take off your mask. If that isn't enough, you're perfectly free to stay in your home and away from society. But the '15 days to slow the spread' turning into months and months is typical government overreach - which history has shown is worse than any epidemic.

Here's my best answer to your question: Show me one double-blind, scientific study that suggests wearing a mask mitigates your risk of transmitting or receiving covid 19.

There's a reason that agencies that are involved with health regulations, like OSHA, refuse to include these masks in the personal protective equipment (PPE) category, and that reason is simply because they are not protective, and labeling them as such would lead to legal liability every time someone wearing a mask catches covid.

Covid19 is a psyop to spread fear, not virus. The daily counter of case numbers maintains the charade. The key is the survivability rate. 99.9% of people survive. It is not a Killer Virus. 1. Most recognize the fear mongering first, and how mandates have went too far.

2. That being said I never had any doubt that there would be a larger second wave during "flu season" in the US, but mostly because of the prolonged responses from states.

3. Many did inaccurately state it would go away after the election, and I would admit early on this was Trump's biggest mistake. He should have always set up the expectation of a second wave during the winter.

When you examine those things together, if you understand the science of viruses and natural immunity then you understand that lockdowns that went too far in certain areas simply delayed the virus spreading more naturally to the people who are more apt to handle it- so you never closed down their pathways to spread to the more vulnerable. For instance many praise KY's Andy Beshar for his overprotective measures in the Spring and Summer but all it did was push more of the spread to the Fall/Winter. Which is exactly what is happening there and many other states.

The big thing to ask in each area is how are hospitals handing it, how is capacity? There was never any stopping this virus, but understanding that I would simply ask WHERE is it "out of control" currently?

And you can't say the entire US, you have to break it down to a more local level. Those areas are where measures can be targeted rather than one size fits all state mandates.

Keep in mind the huge drop in mortality rate as well, then ask where is that increasing?

There's no easy answers, but overall I feel the federal government response has been amazing. Trump and his administration did a great job.

There is a time and a place for a lockdown but this isn’t, hasn’t, and almost certainly won’t be that time. They have been ineffective at preventing any spread of Covid even when enforced with draconian laws (Italy) relative to countries that did not lock down.

Allowing the state executive to arbitrarily suspend our constitutional rights is just asking for other authoritarian policies. Supporting, or being neutral in regards to, lockdowns means implicitly valuing the potential infections prevented more than the increase in death and human suffering from an increase in alcoholism, drug abuse, spousal abuse, child abuse, and food insecurity.

Not to mention the emasculation of breadwinners in a household, the social fabric facilitated by churches and non-profits tearing due to lack of funding, and the further centralization of wealth into corporate hands as citizens are forced to liquidate assets and appeal to the mercy of the corporations who were bailed out with federal money’s while small business were left to close at a rate we’ve never experienced before.

Yes, it’s called state and federal constitutions along with the democratic process that has carried us through every other crisis our country has experienced. When it’s illegal to have people dining inside of your restaurant, but it is legal for you to construct a tent on the sidewalk and have people dine in it there’s a pretty clear indication that the intent, even accepting the efficacy of the methods of prevention, is just to exercise control over the populace.

Here’s a thought experiment for you. Can the government force a Jewish man to remove his Yamaka when he enters a public building? No. Can the government force a Muslim woman to remove her Hijab outside situations where visibility of the face is required? No. Should a governor be able to force every citizen in their state to wear a mask? Should a governor be able to mandate that business make substantive changes to their business models without providing evidence as to the efficacy of proposed prevention methods or any form of assistance? Should a president be able to force every American to lockdown in every state?

Look to the constitution for guidance. Clothing is an expression of free speech. There’s no constitutional basis for an executive to have the power to make these mandates. Many people would be responsive to pleas for compliance with regulations based on evidence and necessity. What people are not receptive to and will actively oppose is authoritarianism.

U do not get rid of a virus u will never eradicate this virus. Masks don’t stop transmission. It’s impossible to not have human contact and thus, the virus will continue to spread. U can not teach the general public how to prevent the transmission of germs, it’s far too difficult. The best surgeons in the most sterile of environments cause infections all of the time due to contamination and you expect to stop a coronavirus that is widespread.
