This post will probably get zero traction and I'll be bombarded with attacks but I dont understand why being a Trump loving Republican requires us all to not want to not get sick or get others sick. Why cant we wear masks even if the mitigation is marginal its still something. I dont necessarily believe in lockdowns but restrictions on gatherings isn't that illogical is it? I understand we dont want to lose our freedoms so how about this do it willingly and you lose no freedom. I dont know I feel like there must be a way for both freedom and the ability to stop this virus to coexist. I'm a pede doing my part to slow the spread and I hope you all are too.

If the government (mostly through Democrats) was not using this as an excuse to curtail civil liberties and gain power, the Covid 19 epidemic would appear more genuine.. but since the numbers are showing the disease to be much less potent than originally feared and the government is still pushing for even more extreme measures, it makes a lot of us feel that treating the whole thing like it's bullshit is better. All the measures - social distancing, shutting down the economy, limiting travel - take a huge toll on the economy and mental health of the country and those measures are not being properly weighed against the actual impact of the epidemic.
You are free to take the disease as seriously as you want. None of us are wanting to force you to take off your mask. If that isn't enough, you're perfectly free to stay in your home and away from society. But the '15 days to slow the spread' turning into months and months is typical government overreach - which history has shown is worse than any epidemic.
