If a boy likes cars or guns, they're "big boy toys" that are "compensating" for something. The exception being if a girl is interested, then that's great because she's being cool and taking over the boys' space. Not sure how it's feminist to say girls only have value when they do typically masculine things, but wasting time when they're keeping house and caring for kids, but there you go.
