"Although mechanistic studies support the potential effect of hand hygiene or face masks, evidence from 14 randomized controlled trials of these measures did not support a substantial effect on transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza."

This is a meta study - no new studies were done, Covid wasn't tested. This is just a rehash of previous studies. The CDC has had the opportunity to do some real studies with real people wearing masks and not wearing masks during this Covid pandemic. Why have they not done so? Why are they regurgitating prior studies, and sometimes claiming masks work and at other times claiming the don't work.

This is why the medical community has very little faith in the CDC at the moment. They aren't using evidence, they aren't doing studies and their advice is often contradictory.

Ross Perot correctly termed things like this as "Gorilla Dust" ... a smokescreen because they have no evidence masks work (its rather obvious they don't work).
