In California you do not need to show an ID to vote, all you need is to give your name and address verbally. That's it!
In California you can register to vote at the polling place on the day of election
In California they use the DMV to mail out ballots, not voter roles. I know this because people who never registered to vote in their life received a mail in ballot.
Exactly. I worked the polls and, per the training instructions, people could just come in and give any name & address. If that name & address was in the system, they could vote. If it wasn’t, then you were register them under the verbally given name & address so they could “provisional” vote anyway.
