Twenty years later, and I still have literally no idea why we went there. And yet I am still open to an explanation, and there very well may be one. I know it’s not the reason they said it was (or I assume not). Maybe it was to create a wedge to stop Iranian expansion. Would be nice to know - I’ve been asking people for twenty years and still have never heard an explanation that made sense, at least to me.

I wonder how many Americans know we have a truly colossal embassy now in Baghdad. It really is enormous. Gotta be worth something.
