The only problem here is that we have totally failed to jail traitors, and other treasonous scum for decades. They don't fear repercussions because there have not been any repercussions.

The utter lack of enforcing the law has emboldened them to a ridiculous degree, and if we fail to hang them all now they will simply cease with all pretense and hang us for daring to question them.
