It was a shock when I was a new private in the Army, and found out that Republicans were not all white racists (I grew up in California) it was a shock to learn that our government lied to us to get us into a war with Iraq over 9/11. It was even a shock when I sat myself down, and made myself accept that a lot of things that I believe was because I had been told that they were true by teachers and society without me gathering any evidence of my own to verify their claims. At this point, I could learn that the world is flat, and that the moon landing was a hoax and I wouldn’t be surprised.
